Federal Government Recognition
During his career with the US Department of State, Ron received two State Department Superior Honor Awards, five State Department Meritorious Honor Awards, and two Vice Presidential Hammer Awards for systems integration initiatives, and reengineering of office business processes.
Through his work on the Olympic Visa Issuance Database (OVID) he was frequently called upon as an international authority on secure document entry systems and procedures. Ron traveled to Canada, Australia, Greece and Mexico to consult with government executives and Olympic organizing officials in connection with document entry issues relating to major international events. He has been guest speaker at numerous international conferences and adressed diverse audiences about international document entry issues. Ron was specifically sought out by the Japanese and Chinese governments in connection with the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano and the 2009 Games in Beijing. Since his retirement from the federal government he has provided paid consultant services to the United States Olympic Committee.
Ron received the Department of State's highest achievement award for technology innovation in 2002 for his central role in conceptualizing, organzing, and managing the OVID project.
Art Achievements
In June and July of 2008 he was selected as one of seven US art gallery directors to travel to Australia under the auspices of the Australian Trade Commission (AUSTRADE). The delegation visited twenty-three of the most remote Australian Aboriginal art centers meetinging with Directors and artists at each center. The trip was widely covered by news media in Australia and was unquestionably the most important element in establishing Gallery Sydney-East's close and lasting ties to Aboriginal art resources in Australia.
Ron and his wife, Susan, will be relocating to Asheville, North Carolina in 2020 and will represent Australian art and artists, and provide design services to private clients in the Western Mountain Region.
